Dr. Melanie Diaz, PGY2, was recently named as a 2024 TAFP Family Medicine Resident Scholar.
The TAFP Foundation launched the scholar program to recognize and further develop the leadership skills of a resident at a Texas family medicine residency program. Scholars are selected during their first year of residency and remain in the program until they complete their training. The residents receive a total of $10,000 to be paid throughout their training. They are be paired with a mentor, receive travel funding to attend specific meetings, and develop a project or presentation during the program to further the goals of TAFP or the TAFP Foundation. The goal of the program is to develop a series of leaders who will continue to give back to their specialty and community.
